Map online at - http://tinyurl.com/2nbjwl This can be zoomed out for a larger area.

For previous attendees it's easy. Come out of the drive of the old venue, turn right to the traffic lights, turn left, first left & the new venue is
a couple of hundred yards on the right at the top of the hill. Really easy to find.

Views inside the club

Last year their was a big panic over DEFRA's new guidelines in selling fish in open auction. We rose to the challenge & adopted new ideas into the auction.
The auction viewing stand is now accepted & stops fish rolling off tables with resulting shock to fish. Many people have made positive comments on it's implimentation.
We cannot think of any other ways currently implimented to make fish put in auction less stressed but we are always open to new ideas.

This auction (in compliance with our understanding of the rules) has to be for members of the auction club only & we charge membership of £2·50 (for two auctions membership).
This entitles you to free entry at our December auction.
Membership is available to renew or join at the door. All this money goes into the charity pot.

Our rules are basic common sense in bagging fish up. One third water (maximum) & two thirds air. Bags should be of sufficient thickness not to leak.
Bags can be double bagged with the second bag put into the outer bag knot first or single bagged with the bottom seam taped up with clear packing tape to round off corners.
This prevents fish getting trapped in bag corners.
Thick bags are available off the mail order site www.ta-aquaculture.co.uk if you have trouble finding them

We can supply spare bags for deflated bags or make your own hot water bottles for boxes on the return journey home. Just wrap a hot water bag in a newspaper & put in your box.
A simple, cheap way of keeping your fish warm. Everyone should do this for the benefit of the fish you carry home.

Special Offers on the trade stand. Valid for those attending on the day only.

Peat Fibre Approx 2 kg bags £2·50 (Normally £3·50) - 5 for £10
Algarde Biofoam 200's - 3 for £12

Brand new Rivulus. Alan collected this on his trip to Colombia / Peru last September. Dr.Huber has advised we call it for now Rivulus sp. aff. ornatus-speciosus You can see the vivid red colouration. Only ONE pair will be in the auction. Alan will give a quick chat when it is being auctioned.

Donations from an Importer
On Wednesday I picked up some odds & ends from an Importer who generously donated all income made from them to the charity kitty.

These items include:-

Guppy - Wild collected in Africa. These are quite unusual with a lot of red on the body. Some females have a green/yellow sheen which is quite unusual.
Aplocheilus panchax - Wild caught. Some of these males have lemon fins which is different.
Apistogramma cacatuoides - Double Red - A couple of really colourful pairs.
Apistogramma cacatuoides - Sunburst - Very deep orange unpaired fins, nice fish. Again a couple of pairs.
Crenicara filamentosum - The popular Checkerboard Cichlid. Not often seen these days as they come in too weak. These are strong fish feeding on brine shrimp.
Melanotaenia parkinsoni - Alan works in a retailers where they have a tank of males on show. Stunning fish, I found 2 females & we have 2 pairs in the auction.
Danio sp. - One of the brand new Danios. This one from Burma with extremely long fins. Adult fish. We have a few pairs.

Wild Bettas - Home Bred.

Available to order in advance, with 10% donated to Auction Charity Fund.
Email enquiries and orders to wildbettas2care4@ntlworld.com

What is pre booked for this auction.
Most items are put in a week prior to the event. Contact me with your list.
People could make special journeys to buy your fish. It's crazy not to put your fish here.
Many fish are not advertised here, this should not be taken as a be all & end all of all species being auctioned - just a taster.

As always we will provide boxes on the stage for donated fish or eggs to be auctioned. All the money from these boxes goes straight into the charity kitty.

These are the rules on presenting fish to auction. We are going to be rigid in implimenting them. Entries not meeting these criteria will have to be rejected. No exceptions. Please read CAREFULLY the following:-

#1. No entries will be accepted to auction which are in a distressed state. By this we mean fish looking sickly, showing signs of disease or rolling in the bag etc. Also applies to lots on display or in holding boxes.

#2. No entries will be accepted where a fish has died in the bag in transit. This applies to fish bagged seperately & tied together as a pair/trio. Also applies to lots on display or in holding boxes. These bags will be returned to the owner for immediate re-bagging. A single surviving fish will not be auctioned !

#3. Bags should be of sufficient strength to remain inflated. No deflated bags will be auctioned. These will require re-bagging by the owner. If your bag loses air it will be returned to you for attention & not sold. It's in your interests to do the job right.

#4. Where possible bags should be double bagged with the first bag inverted so the neck goes into the outer bag first. This 'rounds off' the corners & strengthens the bag. Single bags are OK if they are of sufficient thickness. Single bags should have the corners taped up. Tape will be available at the show. Fish are stressed out when bagged & naturally try to hide in corners. Bags slightly under inflated sit on these corners & they collapse, trapping the fish where they can suffocate & die. This is a simple step to avoid this area of stress.

These rules are basic common sense in presenting fish to auction.

As usual the Odds & Ends table will be available for odd fish, live foods, plants etc.

We thank everybody for helping us out over this & past years. This is your record...
