Meaning of Name

After the Greek erythros. Refers to the rows of red dots along body & fins.

First Description

Two new species of Chromaphyosemion (Cyprinodontiformes: Nothobranchiidae) from the coastal plain of Equatorial Guinea.

Size

Male - 24·5 mm SL (holotype). In aquaria - males 25 mm, females 20 mm.

Meristics

D = 11-13, A = 12-15, ll = 23-26 + 2-3.

  • 4 km south of the new bridge over the Rio Benito in the Rio Uolo drainage.

Distinguishing Characteristics Distinguished from it's neighbours - A.kouamense, A.melanogaster, A.ecucuense & most forms of A.malumbresi by a thin red submarginal band in the anal fin of males.
Males have a light blue to blue/grey colouration on sides.

Holotype collected 18th July 1968 on the road from Senye - Izaguirre (between Bisum & Avuenam), Rio Muni, Equatorial Guinea.
